His House Children’s Home (His House), sponsored by Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Comcast and Royal Caribbean International, hosted their 8th Annual Charity “Hope” Gala Saturday, October 8th at The JW Marriott Marquis Miami. Hosted by ABC Channel 10 News Anchor, Neki Mohan, over 420 guests celebrated a wonderful evening to benefit the lives of South Florida’s at-risk children in crisis.
During the cocktail hour, participants had the opportunity to bid on over 100 silent auction items, which included Montica fine jewelry, vacation getaways, autographed sports memorabilia, fine dining, fine art, beauty products and more. A live silent auction took place during the entrée course and two winners went home with an African safari trip and the other with a prestigious Azamara Club Cruise.
Senator Rene Garcia surprised His House Founder Jean Caceres-Gonzalez with a proclamation that evening and Arthur Murray blew the crowd away with a magnificent dance show. The children of His House followed with a ballroom performance they had been rehearsing for months.
Guests were especially moved when Edito Fernandez, former His House foster child who was adopted many years ago, presented Caceres-Gonzalez with a beautiful painting she was very familiar with as he had created it as a young boy during his stay at His House. The painting had been sold as a silent auction piece at one of the first His House galas and was recently retrieved from the original bidder who graciously donated it back to His House for this purpose. Fernandez, now 18 years old, is currently working for His House as a resident counselor in the teenage boys’ home.
The annual gala is the most significant fundraiser of the year for His House. They greatly depend on community partnership to maintain their programs and services. This event was a great success as proceeds will go to benefit children from newborn to 17 residing at His House Children’s Home.
About HHCH
Established in 1989, His House Children’s Home (HHCH) is a private, non-profit, faith-based organization that provides excellent residential services, case-management, an in-house counseling center, the His House Academy and weekly enrichment programs, in addition to foster care and adoption placement to the abused, abandoned and neglected children of South Florida from newborn to 18 years of age in crisis and offers support to their families. The agency is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families, contracted by Our Kids Inc. and Child-Net, Inc. in Broward as a residential program and child-placement agency. The organization is a frontline provider of residential services when an abused child comes into care. The organization was selected by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) as a reception center in the U.S. serving post-quake Haitian orphans. His House successfully provided temporary residential care and expedited reunification processing to over 472 orphans.
His House is a healing place giving wounded children a warm loving home and renewed hope for a brighter future. We are coloring away the darkness in little hearts all over South Florida.
